Bangor 1876 maintained their 100% record in the Gwynedd League after recording a 3-1 victory against a robust Nefyn United side who were previously unbeaten in the league.
As early as the second minute, Dylan Summers-Jones flashed an effort across the face of the Nefyn goalmouth in a hectic opening to the match.
Nefyn took the lead in the 13th minute when player-manager Carl Jones’ left-footed half volley beat Bangor goalkeeper Leon Jones.
Bangor responded almost immediately when Jamie Petrie was upended inside the penalty area on 15’ and he stepped up to convert the penalty kick himself.
Nefyn were lucky not to concede a second penalty on 18’ when Dylan Summers-Jones went to ground under a heavy challenge, the referee wasn’t convinced and there’s no VAR in this league.
1876 keeper Jones tipped over an effort from Nefyn captain Daniel Roberts, before the home side took the lead on 30’ as Les Davies’ found the head of Petrie at the far post to make the score 2-1 to Bangor 1876. Davies then hit the Nefyn crossbar just before halftime as 1876 looked to increase their lead.

Leon Jones was again called into action as 57’ as he acrobatically saved Nefyn player-manager Jones’ free kick from 25-yards.
Bangor pushed forward to finish off the game and the third goal duly arrived after 67’ when Les Davies nipped in to score from a narrow angle – his first competitive goal for the club.
1876 ensured a perfect start to their debut Gwynedd Football League campaign as the focus now moves to Bank Holiday Monday’s Gwynedd League visit to Llangoed.
