Staff on the Alaw Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor have thanked Alun, Emily Ann and Ela Mai for their very generous donation in memory of their late wife and mum, Manon Wynne Pritchard.

Manon worked at Ysgol Cae Top in Bangor for over a decade, excelling as a teaching assistant, helping and supporting hundreds of children and their families.

Nearly four years ago, Manon led the development of Cylch Cae Top. With only a handful of children to begin with, its numbers soared on the back of her hard work and they quickly built an excellent reputation.

Manon had a relentless desire to improve the lives of the children and genuinely cared about each and every child she looked after, making a positive difference in their lives.

It was Miss Manon’s wish was that the school raise money for the Alaw Ward at Ysbyty Gwynedd, who provided excellent care and support for Manon and her family during her illness.

The school held a fun packed day in memory of Miss Manon, which included pampering and hair makeovers in the morning; followed by a sponsored ‘Welly Walk’ in the afternoon, where pupils were joined by parents on the walk. To finish off the day the school held a tea party for the children and parents.

In total the staff and pupils raised an amazing £4,000 contributing to a fantastic total of £4,986.70 in Manon’s memory.

Jen Owens, Alaw Ward Sister, said: “As a department, we are overwhelmed by the amazing donation we have received from Manon’s Family.

“The donation will help us to further enhance the care we are able to provide our patients and their families here on Alaw. Thank you.”
