Vulnerable and elderly residents in the local area, who are looked after by an award-winning care company Abacare, received shoeboxes of items donated by people in the community during December.
Abacare made an appeal to donate shoeboxes filled with items those in their care need at this time of year and received a ’staggering’ number of donations in response.
Ffion Evans, Registered Manager at Abacare, which has offices in Bangor and provides care in the surrounding areas, said: “We have been running our shoebox appeal for four years now and it has got bigger and better every year.
“We received a staggering number of boxes, which were successfully donated to our service users. In our area we had nearly 50 boxes donated and we delivered them to those in need just before Christmas so they had a parcel to open on the day.
“They are extremely grateful as many of the boxes contain items they’re unable to go out and get easily such as food items, hats, scarves, gloves, toiletries and more.
“The people of Wales have shown us how kind-hearted and generous they are and we can’t thank them enough.”
