Weather forecasters are predicting the UK is ready to thaw out from freezing winter temperatures, wind and rain. Spring seems to be just around the corner, with temperatures rocketing back into the early teens over the weekend.
Thursday is set to be cloudy at first with any remaining drizzle quickly dying away. Sunny spells will develop and become more widespread inland through the afternoon, and with light winds it’ll feel spring-like. Maximum temperature 16 °C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday: Settled and dry throughout with spells of sunshine, although foggy in the mornings. Exceptionally mild for some on Friday and Saturday. Perhaps less mild and a little cloudier on Sunday.
The latest long-range forecast says the sunny weather will continue until the end of February, but make the most of it, the Met Office predicts “Into early March there are signals for Atlantic fronts to cross the whole of the UK, bringing a mixture of wet and windy weather to many parts.”
