A traffic survey carried out by Gwynedd Council on Caernarfon Road in Bangor, as part of a safety assessment for children crossing the road to attend school, has recorded over 2,000 cars on the road in just one hour.

Two traffic counts were undertaken, near Ysgol Glanadda, one on a Wednesday afternoon between 2.45pm-3.45pm and the other on a Thursday morning between 8am-9am, with the morning assessment recording over 2,000 cars.

Safety improvements

Safety improvements near Our Lady’s School on Caernarfon Road, have already taken place, including improved lighting under the Railway bridge and school signs with flashing amber lights have also been positioned near the School to improve safety for school children.

Bangor City Council have recently informed the Highway Authority that the City Council would support a 20mph enforcement area around Our Ladys School on Caernarfon Road.
