Plaid Cymru Arfon MP Hywel Williams visited Maesgeirchen Post Office and Shop in Bangor today to see first-hand the busy operation behind delivering a successful Christmas service.
The Plaid Cymru MP also passed on season’s greetings and thanks to the dedicated and hardworking staff of post offices around his constituency and to sorting office staff in Bangor and Caernarfon.
Hywel Williams was shown around the community Post Office by Manager Brian Charlton, and was introduced to the mobile postal service which provides a roaming service across communities in Arfon, helping to pull out all the stops over the busy period.
Hywel Williams said: “It was fantastic to meet Brian and his team at Maesgeirchen Post Office and shop today, they provide such a vital service to the community in this area. I wish Brian and his team them every success during this busy festive period.
“Not only does the Brian and his team provide a valuable service to those living in Maesgeirchen, but surrounding communities now benefit from his mobile Post Office service, which is a lifeline to many rural areas.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all postal workers in my Arfon constituency including staff at both Bangor and Caernarfon sorting offices for their continued hard work throughout the year.”
Postmaster Brian Charlton, who also provides Mobile Outreach services in a number of surrounding communities, was thrilled with the special Christmas visit from his local MP, Brian said: “The Christmas countdown is well underway here at Maesgeirchen Post Office and we were delighted that Hywel took time out from his busy schedule to pop in and recognise the valuable service we provide every day to the local community.”
