While the higher regions of North Wales experienced snow fall today, Bangor was left with showers of hail and sleet despite temperatures remaining low, however the Met Office has now issued an ‘Amber’ Warning for heavy snow fall across North Wales on Sunday.
There was travel disruption on the A55 today, in particular on Rhuallt Hill, with Police advising motorists only to travel if absolutely necessary.
The forecast for Saturday is another cold day with wintry showers, but mainly over the hills. Some good spells of sunshine and lighter winds are expected on Saturday with maximum temperature 6 °C.
The ‘Amber’ weather warning has been issued between 04:00-18.00 on Sunday 10th December when a spell of heavy snow, 10 cm looks likely quite likely within the warning area, with 15-20 cm in places.
Rail and air travel delays are likely, as well as stranding of vehicles and public transport cancellations. There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off.
