Dogs will be allowed on Bangor Pier for a trial period of 6 months, which will start today, 7th November, 2017. The decision was approved at the full meeting of Bangor City Council last night. Councillors had previously voted unanimously to allow dogs on Bangor Pier at a meeting last month.

The decision comes after a recent campaign to revoke the twenty year rule preventing dogs being walked along Bangor’s famous pier. A poll on The Bangor Pier Appreciation Group’s Faceboook Page, had shown there was overwhelming support to allow Dogs on Bangor Pier under supervision.

Dogs must be kept on a lead

Under the council ruling, dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times and owners will be required to remove any dog fouling.

In the review of the pier, cycling or skateboarding will not be allowed and alcohol will continue to be banned on the Pier, unless a licence application is requested either from tenants or for events, in which case each application will be considered on its own merits.
