Sir Bryn Terfel will be performing at Pontio in Bangor next February and tickets will be going on sale on 10th October.

The world famous bass-baritone opera and concert singer, will be performing at the theatre, now called Theatr Bryn Terfel in his honour, as he launches the Wales International Harp Festival IV (April 1-7 2018) on the day that Festival President, Dr Osian Ellis CBE, celebrates his 90th birthday, which is Thursday, February 8th 2018, the concert will start at 7.30pm.

How To Buy Tickets

The Tickets will cost £40 each and will go on sale from 10am on 10/10/2017 from Pontio Box Office, by Phone (01248 382828) and online from www.pontio.co.uk

Sir Bryn was due to appear at Pontio at the ‘Opening Gala’ in October 2014, but this performance was cancelled because building work on the theatre hadn’t been completed in time.

Anyone planning to buy tickets for the February concert will need to be quick, the tickets for the original concert in 2014 sold out in just 15 minutes, and with just 400 tickets available, the demand is expected to be very high.

Sir Bryn and harpist Hannah Stone will give the first performance of Osian Ellis’ Cycle of Welsh Folk Songs. Past students from Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias, finalists in the Urdd Bryn Terfel Scholarship, will be the supporting artists.

Pontio officials and the singer’s representatives have been trying to find a suitable date for the opera superstar to appear in the theatre. Sir Bryn’s first visit to the theatre was in April last year when he attended a concert given by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Sir Bryn Terfel said: “How exciting, I am so pleased that we have finally found a date for this incredible concert at Pontio. I am very much looking forward to singing in the theatre for the very first time, in the concert to celebrate harpist Osian Ellis, one of Wales’s most iconic musicians.”
