Bangor Pride has been hailed as a great success and everyone who attended had fantastic time. The event organisers are already making plans for Bangor Pride 2020, which they promise will be bigger, better and even more fabulous.
The event was held at Bangor University’s Main Arts Campus included live music performances, poetry readings, comedy, workshops and a variety of stalls followed by an after-party at the White Lion in Bangor.
Local Plaid Cymru MP Hywel Williams, who gave a talk at the event, said: “I was honoured to be invited to address Bangor Pride’s event at the weekend and I’d like to thank the organisers for a memorable afternoon.
“There are now Pride events across the country and they are very good at celebrating the diversity of our culture.
“Ultimately this was an event about diversity and inclusiveness and I’m really proud of the work the volunteering team did to bring this inaugural event to Bangor.
“These events now take place all over the world, including in cities like Cardiff, London and Manchester. It is only right that we should have a celebration here in Bangor and celebrate diversity within our community.
“I am proud to represent an area which celebrates diversity and promotes inclusiveness and I wish Bangor Pride all the best for the future as they build on a successful first event.
Bangor Pride organiser Owen J Hurcum said: “Thanks again to everyone who came to the day event and after party – you really did make this one of the best days in Bangor (at least for myself), though that being said, save the date for 2020 because we will be back, bigger, better and more fabulous!”
