People living in Bangor are being encouraged to donate shoeboxes containing items for elderly and vulnerable people who are being supported by a local care provider in the area this Christmas season.
Abacare care management team, which has offices in Bangor, has launched its shoebox appeal for the fourth year running, providing essentials and gifts for service users who may not be able to get outside and may not have many gifts at Christmas.
Ffion Evans, Registered Manager at Abacare, said: “It’s that time of year again when we ask the generous people of Wales to get behind our festive shoebox appeal. It has been extremely successful in the past, so we have decided to continue it again this year.
“We’re asking people to fill a shoebox with essentials and other bits and pieces that they think would really help brighten someone’s day. We would suggest hats, scarves, slippers, toiletries, books and something a bit more festive and fun for Christmas.
“All of the boxes donated will be evenly distributed among our elderly service users and we’re sure it will really help brighten their day.
“We’ve already had a great response to our shoebox appeal and have been inundated with boxes, but if anyone out there has been meaning to put one together, then this is your final reminder as the deadline of Friday, December 14 is fast approaching.”
Any shoeboxes can be dropped off or sent to Abacare’s offices at 9, Ash Court, Parc Menai, Bangor, Gwynedd, LL57 4DF. The deadline for boxes to be sent is Friday, December 14.
