A charity concert will be held at Bangor Cathedral on Friday 8 March, with all proceeds being donated to the North Wales Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC) which is based at Parc Menai.

The concert has been organised by North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Arfon Jones and will be hosted by Dilwyn Morgan, with performances from Côr y Penrhyn, Welsh singer Elin Fflur, all-girl folk band, Tant, and Only Boys Aloud.

The RASASC charity was founded in 1983 and has provided support to thousands of people across North Wales who have experienced sexual violence, whether this happened recently or in the past. The free service is ageless and genderless although the centre maintain a women only space in the Bangor Centre for the benefit of the women and girls who use it.

Mr Jones said: “I am grateful to everybody who is going to be performing on the night for supporting this wonderful organisation that does such important work.

“Last year I was privileged to be invited to officially open their new offices in Bangor.

“Tackling sexual abuse is a key in my North Wales Police and Crime Plan. Demand for the centre’s services have rocketed in recent years, particularly after the revelations about Jimmy Savile and, more recently the ones from football academies, which helped encourage more and more survivors to come forward to seek help.

“The concert is going to be a great night full of good humour and great music. I’m delighted we have Dilwyn Morgan as the MC for the night – he’s an old friend and a very funny comedian.

“It promises to be a fabulous evening of great music and good humour and all for a great cause.”
