After months of hard work and preparation, Bangor Carnival is all ready for this weekend, Saturday 16th June, and after a fantastic event last year, the Carnival will be returning to Bangor High street.

The dedicated, small group of volunteers, from Bangor Community Group, have worked tirelessly to stage the event … they now need one more thing …. your support! The whole community are invited to come to the High Street on Saturday, to cheer on the parade and enjoy a fun filled day with our fellow citizens, where there will be various entertainment throughout the day.

Carnival Crowning Ceremony

After a fantastic Crowning Ceremony at the University’s PJ Hall on Wednesday 30th May, the retinue of 2018 where Queen Libby accepted the Crown on gracefully, following on from being the Princess of 2017. The Court was blessed with a full retinue this year, with Princess Miley, Rosebud Daisy and Petal Sera. They were accompanied by Libby’s attendants, Amy, Grace, Honey, Pageboy Archie and flowergirl Mollie along with Miley’s attendants, Ruby & Roxy and flowergirl Seren.

The audience also enjoyed performances from the pupils of Gwynedd School of Dance & Performing Arts Centre, who sang songs from the world of musicals. Fantastic performances given by talented youngsters from the age of 9 to 18 years old.

Over the last year the 2017 Princess Libby, Amy & Kasey along with Rosebud Rosie and Petal Scarlet were all fantastic role models in representing Bangor at venues all over North Wales at other Carnivals and our 2018 retinue will now enjoy the same role.

Carnival Day for All the Family

The Carnival parade leaves Sackville Road which will be officially opened by the Deputy Mayor of Bangor at 11am and will then make its way down the High Street. The walkers will head towards James Street by Valla’s chip shop, following around by Cube night club and back up the High Street to finish at the Clock. This year’s parade has a Circus theme and as in previous years includes a mix of diverse colour, culture and fun and are blessed to have the very fantastic Bloc Swn, who will lead our parade.

We are delighted to announce that the fabulous Carnival parade that we have seen in previous years, is making a comeback this year, with floats and walkers, taking part and joining in the carnival theme to put on a great show for City, and there’s still time to join in, by contacting the Group.

The carnival will be situated in the heart of our City, on the High Street, Storiel Green and the Hen Glan car park which will see our fantastic Simons Funfair re-joining us. There will be many stalls, fairground rides, children’s activities, including Donkey rides, Bouncy castles and Circus workshops and of course face painting! Some of our entertainment includes Bangor Gymnastics Club Performances,

Anna from Frozen, Oompa-Fessional Brass Band, Pirate Ricardo, Meet and Greet Characters, Gwynedd School of Dance and Performing Arts Street Centre Dancers, Syrcas Cimera Workshop, Confuscious and to finish we have Syrcas Cimera and Gwynedd School of Dance and Performing Arts Centre.
