Chairs in the new waiting room at Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Emergency Department have been deliberately damaged. Photos of the damaged chairs emerged yesterday, provoking an angry response on social media.
Improvement work began at the Emergency Department last year and the first phase, which includes the brand new, more spacious waiting room, with more comfortable chairs and amenities for patients and relatives, only opened in March this year.
The £14 million re-development, which will take up to three years to complete, will help increase capacity and improve the environment for patients whilst waiting and receiving treatment.
This major scheme will provide state of the art accommodation for the 52,000 patients who use the service each year and will help transform medical and emergency care in Bangor, creating more capacity to deal with peaks in demand while improving the environment for patients, staff and visitors alike.
Staff in the department are now believed to be analysing CCTV footage to see if they can identify the culprit.
